We’re proud to officially announce COILED, a Black.Co.Productions short film written and directed by Heaven Lee and an Official Selection of the 2026 Shameless Plug Film Festival.
COILED is an exploration of Black womanhood, natural hair, beauty standards, identity, and the moment a woman chooses to see herself beyond the expectations placed upon her. Through poetry, reflection, and transformation, Essence discovers that sometimes becoming who you are isn’t about changing at all it’s about coming home to yourself.
